Plastering & Screeding
Our specialist team of floor screeding contractors are available for limited companies and non-commercial clients.
Screeding is a technique that involves the running of a straight piece of metal across wet sand and cement (the screed) making it a flat surface.
The screed is a thin layer of concrete that is poured over the floor to reinforce it and provide a smooth base.
Once the smooth surface has been achieved other finishing materials can be applied on top such as underlay & carpet or tiles, etc.
LIQUID SCREED
Liquid screed is a fast-drying solution to be used when there is a need for immediate use of the area.
A liquid screed is an impervious material, meaning it does not allow water to pass through very easily.
Liquid Screeds are often more expensive than traditional sand and cement mixes due to the additional work involved in mixing the chemical compound with aggregate particles.
TRADITIONAL SCREED
Traditional Screed flooring is a mixture of wet sand and cement that is pressed with a steel or aluminium screed.
This mix is still popularly used as it can be applied quickly and provides a durable floor.
Traditional Screeds have another benefit and that is they are more affordable than liquid screed. That said they require multiple steps to create the finished product but this isn’t an issue when hiring contractors that specialise in delivering this service.
LIQUID FLOOR SCREED VS CEMENT SCREED
Traditional sand & cement generally consists of either a 1:3 or 1:4 cement to the sand ratio which complies with BS 8204-1. It can be mixed with polypropylene fibres (PPF) for reinforcement or in some cases a D49 metal mesh is used instead of the PPF for improved reinforcement.
It may be applied onto a solid concrete ground floor slab or onto a precast concrete floor unit.
This is a method of flooring that has been in use for many years and gives good sound deadening qualities, being an impervious material.
However, it can be more expensive to install than Liquid Screed as the screed must have time to set before other materials are applied on top of it.

All floor projects, domestic and commercial, are completed to the highest standard.
